Astronomy

The night sky has been a source of inspiration for me since I was a young child. Even today, I make it an annual tradition to take at least one weekend in the summer to journey away from the city to go stargazing. With my recent investment in bridge and DSLR cameras, this has made it possible for me to capture the beautiful, quiet moments as well.

Solar Eclipse [7 Stacked Photos], Glendo, WY, USA - Aug 2017

During the 2017 Great American Solar Eclipse, I had the opportunity to photograph another astronomical phenomenon. This was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience to watch the world around me darken for a few minutes just after mid-day and to observe the sun without the need of any protective eyewear.

But I don't always have to travel far away to witness unique astronomical events. Last winter I had the pleasure to witness a full lunar eclipse while on a study term. For a few hours late into the night I watched our Moon turn a dark shade of red as it was eclipsped by the Earth.

Photography

Photography has been a long-time passion of mine since I was a child. Whenever my parents decided to go travelling, I took advantage of this time to take photos of the different cities we visited.

My photography is not restricted to cities though. Visiting numerous provincial, state and national parks as a kid, I have grown to develop a personal love for nature and an affinity for capturing the vibrant colours and small details of natural landscapes.

I have also recently started a side hobby in film photography. Using an old Nikon FE, I have began taking photos occasionally on short day trips. Due to the expensive nature of film, this hobby has taught me the value of patience and the importance of setting up your perfect shot.

Gardening

Four O'Clock Flower - Sept 2017

I grew up in a household with a garden filled with plants and flowers. Thus gardening has always been a source of relaxation for me. I like growing plants from seeds and bulb such as four o'clocks, tulips, and lilies.
